The Institute of National Importance Combined Entrance Test (INI-CET) is a national-level postgraduate medical entrance exam. This exam is conducted by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. Candidates should qualify this exam to get admission to MD, MS, MCh (6 years), DM (6 years), and MDS courses at India's premier medical institutes. The eligibility criteria to sit on this exam candidates must have an MBBS/BDS degree from a recognized institution and should completed internship before the deadline set by AIIMS.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification: Must have an MBBS/BDS degree from a recognized institution.
Internship Completion: Candidates must complete their internship before the specified deadline (usually by January 31 for the January session and July 31 for the July session).
Minimum Marks Required:

  • General/OBC candidates: 50% aggregate in MBBS/BDS
  • SC/ST candidates: 45% aggregate

 

Exam pattern

  • Subjects: Pre-clinical, para-clinical, and clinical subjects based on MBBS.
  • Total Questions: 200 (180 to be attempted)
  • Types of Questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
  • Marking Scheme: +1 for correct answer, -1/3 for wrong answer, and 0 for unanswered questions.
  • Total Marks: 200

INI-CET 2025 Counselling & Admission Process

The INI-CET Counselling is conducted online by AIIMS, New Delhi, for admission to MD, MS, DM (6 years), MCh (6 years), and MDS courses.

The Step-by-Step process is given below:

1. Counselling Process

Step 1: Online Registration

  • Candidates who qualify the INI-CET exam must register online for counselling on the AIIMS portal.
  • Fill in personal details, category, and preferences.

Step 2: Choice Filling & Locking

  • Select preferred institutes and courses.
  • Lock choices before the deadline to confirm selections.

Step 3: Seat Allotment

  • AIIMS releases seat allotment lists for each round.
  • Seat allocation is based on rank, category, and availability.

Step 4: Seat Acceptance & Reporting

  • Candidates allotted a seat must accept the offer online and report to the allotted institute for document verification.
  • Pay the admission fee to confirm the seat.

 

2. Rounds of Counselling

🔹 Round 1:

  • First round of seat allotment.
  • Candidates can accept, upgrade, or withdraw.

🔹 Round 2:

  • If seats remain vacant, a second round is conducted.
  • Candidates who did not get a seat in Round 1 can participate.

🔹 Open Round (if applicable):

  • Conducted if seats are still available after Round 2.
